The Best Boutique + Winery in St. Petersburg, Florida

My friend Katie was in town in June, and we had a big week planned while she was here! We did all of the typical Central Florida shenanigans (Disney, Universal, a few beach days). Katie has a cousin that lives just 2 hours away from us in St. Petersburg, Florida. We decided to take a day trip out to St. Pete to visit her family, and it is one of my favorite small towns in Florida, so naturally, I was all in!

If you have never been to St. Pete, I highly recommend a trip (even if it’s just a weekend)! It is a very small island right outside of Tampa that is filled with history, cobblestone streets, outdoor everything, and wonderful foodie experiences.

We left early so we could go troll around downtown. We started at a beautiful bayfront hotel, The Vinoy Renaissance Hotel. They had a really perfect outdoor bar with a great daily happy hour special.

We decided to take a walk down the gorgeous cobblestone streets and see what stuck out. Little did we know, we took the best turn down Beach Drive. We saw this really fun looking boutique called Mermosa: Winery + Boutique.

Winery AND Boutique? Y’all know, we had to go in!

Mermosa was previously a swimsuit shop until recently they rebranded into a mermaid themed boutique. What is their spin? They brew their own sparkling wines from north western organic grapes. Their wines are spin-offs of some of your favorite champagnes like Prosecco. They feature two sparkling wines and are coming out with new canned wines soon! For $6 you can sit at their sparkly bar + have a wine tasting in between shopping their adorable boutique!

The Wines

“Mermosa is a refreshing white sparkling wine ‘MerMade’ with a splash of organic pineapple and orange flavors.  The wine grapes are organic from Washington State and are used to create a beautiful zero residual sugar wine.  Then we add our organic juices using a special filtration process that keeps the flavors, while taking out the pulps.  We do not add any sugar other than what is included in the splash of organic juices, so it’s not too sweet.  It’s the Refreshing Taste of Paradise.”

This one was Katie’s absolute favorite! It was sweet, but not too sweet, and the hint of pineapple made you feel like you were on a fancy island relaxing with your toes in the sand… which is actually what we did when we popped open our bottle of Mermosa!

If you love sweet wines, this is the one for you!

The single bottles are sold in-store only, but you can order a case from here.

“Mersecco is a refreshing, zero residual sugar sparkling white wine inspired by real mermaids who enjoy getaways in the sun, memory-making experiences and the taste of paradise.  The flavor was created in St. Petersburg, Florida at the Mermosa Flagship.  The organic grapes were grown in Washington State’s Walla Walla AVA and the wine was finished and bottled in the Willamette Valley, Oregon.”

This is my kind of sparkling wine right here! Bubbly and more on the dry side. It’s like Prosecco, so it is a little sweet but not overbearing. This one was my favorite. My hubs and I shared this bottle when we said cheers to booking our flights to Israel! It was definitely a great celebratory wine!

The single bottles are sold in-store only, but you can order a case from here.

The Boutique

Now the wines are important but equally important is the shopping status. Since Mermosa rebranded, they have upped their retail game. Using the mermaid theme with a winery attached, they have really gotten creative with their retail! I especially love the unique pieces, like the vintage, refurb piano, serving pieces, and those straw bags are giving me all the heart eyes!

Girls day made.

If you find yourself in St. Petersburg, please go stop in, shop this small business boutique, try some sparkling wine at the sparkly bar, and chat with the sweet ladies who work there. You will not be disappointed!
